TGIF - and Winner Time

Good afternoon!  The weekend is almost here - I think I can taste it.
Thank you so much to everyone who came to visit during my Growing in Unity week.  I am sorry it has taken me so long to post the winner.  I had 105 wonderful comments, so I threw that number into random.org to pick the lucky winner:

I actually had 25 comments on my first day, so the lucky winner is the last commenter from Day 1:

This is gorgeous with all the embossing and pretty label die cuts! I love working with kraft cardstock and stamps.

Growing in Unity Day 5

Happy Friday!  It is supposed to hot and sunny here today - finally!  I'm winding up my week as the Growing in Unity Girl, and it has been so much fun, especially reading everyone's comments.  Thank you so much for all your feedback.  As mentioned before, I am using the January 2014 Kit of the Month, Be your own kind of Beautiful for all my projects.   Again, today I have made a couple of projects using the same stamp, the three flowers outline.  On the first card I also used the flower stamp that looks like a daisy and I played around with the centres on the flowers.  I also used the wood grain background and one of the sentiments.
To be honest, I wasn't sure how happy I was with this project, and debated not posting it, so I tried something else.  This time I masked off an oval and created a background and stamped the image in black.  I added a sentiment in a banner and kept with some softer colours.

I've also got one more for you.  The image is actually an Itty Bitty, but the sentiment is from the KOM.  This is my dad's birthday card which is today, and he has a scooter so I thought the Itty Bitty was appropriate.  I beginning to think I made be a little obsessed with banner dies.
Again, thank you for joining me for my Growing in Unity this week.  Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win two free Itty Bitty stamps from Unity.  Make sure to visit their website to check out all the weekend promotions and new releases.  Check back on Monday to see if you were the lucky winner.

Have a great weekend!
Michele

Growing in Unity Day 4

Welcome back! Thank you for all the wonderful comments, they put a smile on my face.

As mentioned in previous posts, I have decided to showcase the January 2014 KOM, Be your own kind of Beautiful to show just how versatile these kits are.

For today's post, I have made two cards using the same stamps.  For the first one I took a softer approach, and stamped the sentiment using distress ink to create a background, which I then splattered with water to give it a softer look.  I also used baker's twine and star brads to accent the image.

Although, I was pleased with the outcome, I felt like the image would really 'pop' if embossed in white on a dark background.  So I did just that, and then also added some of the smaller star images stamped off in silver a few times before stamping on the card stock, to soften them.  I also had some really cute dies in planets and stars that I included for some added interest.
So there you have it, two completely different styles of card using the same images.

Don't forget to leave a comment each day for your chance to win two free Itty Bitty stamps from Unity Stamp Company.  While you are there perusing the stamps you would pick if you are the lucky winner, be sure to check out all their sales and new releases.  Have a great day and I hope you'll come back tomorrow.

Growing in Unity Day 3

Happy Wednesday!  Hello to everyone who came from the Unity blog, and welcome back to my visitors from Monday and Tuesday.  Thank you for all the kind comments you have posted, they are so very much appreciated.  I am thrilled to be the Growing in Unity Girl this week.  I have decided to use the January 2014 Kit of the Month, Be your own kind of Beautiful for all my projects this week to show how versatile the KOMs are.  For today's card, I used the wood grain round background stamp as well as one of the butterflies and a sentiment.  I raised the front panel to add dimension and coloured the butterfly with Tim Holtz distress markers.
Again, I love this sentiment, as I could use this for a birthday, thinking of you, encouragement or even just a hello card.

Remember to leave a comment each day for your chance to win two free Itty Bitty stamps from Unity Stamp Company.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back tomorrow.

Growing in Unity Day 2

Good morning and welcome to Day 2 of my week Growing in Unity.  As mentioned yesterday , I thought it would be fun to use one kit, the January 2014 KOM, Be Your own kind of Beautiful, for all my projects.

For today's card, I went for a bit of bright and bling using the cupcake image and one of the sentiments.

Remember, one lucky commenter will win two free Itty Bitty stamps of their choice from Unity Stamp Company.

Growing in Unity Day 1

Good morning!  Wow, it feels like forever since I have blogged..... I just checked and my last entry was last October.  Thankfully, it hasn't been that long since I've gotten crafty, I just haven't been taking pictures and posting them.  But what better way to kick start my blogging again then by participating in Unity Stamp Company's 'Growing in Unity'.  Each day this week, I will post a project using Unity stamps, and then at the end of the week, I get to pick one lucky winner from everyone who comments to win two free Itty Bitty stamps of their choice from Unity.  Pretty sweet deal!  So let's get started.  When I sat down to create my projects for this week, the January Kit of the Month, Be your own kind of Beautiful, was sitting on my desk, so I thought it may be fun to make all my projects from this kit to show how versatile it can be.  I always love the look of white on kraft, so I stamped the background image of flowers and text on white and embossed it.  I added some pale green card stock and ribbon for some subtle contrast.  Leaving it with no sentiment will make it a very versatile card.  Hope you like it.

Make sure you leave a comment everyday this win for your chance to win two free Itty Bitty stamps from Unity Stamp Company, and be sure to check out their current sale.

See you tomorrow,
Michele

Friends with Flair Friday

TGIF!!!

I think I start all my FWF Friday posts with that.  This is my first post since my GIU week, and it feels like its been forever.  I am headed to a crop tonight, so I am pretty excited about that - hope to finally finish off a mini-album I was working on.  My focus has been mainly cards, so I'm really trying to get back into scrapbooking.

Sorry for the quality of today's picture, it was taken with my cell phone before I mailed this off to a friend.

I used one of the Unity sentiment sets - I love those sets!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
